As a distinct cultural tradition of Japan, Budo has developed into many different forms, combining techniques to kill and subdue an opponent with the guiding philosophy of ‘Do’ (道), which aims to achieve moral and spiritual perfection through disciplined training.
The character “Bu” (武) originates from the meaning of “stopping a spear,” which embodies the spirit of “great harmony” in terms of suppressing selfishness and resolving conflicts.
Through daily training, we come to understand pain and are grateful for our fellow practitioners as we forge our minds and bodies, and grow together. Budo is a physical cultural practice that upholds respect for others, fosters an altruistic nature, and builds character.
Budo has spread widely throughout the world as a unique Japanese cultural tradition entrusted with the mission of laying the foundation for a peaceful, conflict-free world.
In particular, Karate and Judo have grown to be among the most widely practiced Japanese martial arts in the world. This physical cultural practice has grown in popularity in countries where the concept of “Budo” did not originally exist, and it has evolved harmoniously with local sport cultures to become “Budo sports.”
We actively engage in this new growth in popularity, and are committed to contributing towards the further growth and development of Budo sports, with the aim of developing our wide range of products and services.
