YOUTUBE COLLABORATION
Turning the martial artists connected through KURO-OBI WORLD into the next act of making.
KURO-OBI WORLD has brought the skills and ideas of martial artists to viewers around the world. MITSUBOSHI GLOBAL has spent years making equipment for Budo. Together, we want to listen first and imagine a kuro-obi brand for life inside and beyond the dojo.
BEYOND THE BLACK BELT.
Thinking beyond “kuro-obi.”
We are not looking only for ways to improve the belt itself. We want to explore how its discipline, respect and quiet strength might live in the objects and moments of everyday life.
A morning on the way to training, time at work or study, travel, or the ritual of caring for equipment at home—we want to discover what naturally belongs in a martial artist's life, guided by the people who will use it.
IDEA SKETCH / NOT A CONFIRMED PRODUCT
What could an everyday kuro-obi brand look like?
This is not a finished range. It is a visual prompt to open up the conversation. Look beyond the belt's familiar shape and imagine daily objects informed by its weave, knot, touch and the way it develops character over time.- On the way to training
- At work or study
- During travel
- As a grading or milestone gift

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO LEARN
From present frustrations to ideas that do not have a name yet.
You do not need a finished product name. Start with a moment in daily life, a small frustration or something you simply wish existed.
What is not working
What feels inconvenient, incomplete or ready to improve in training, storage, travel, work or daily life.
What would feel useful every day
A strap, case, organizer, wearable item or gift—including ideas that do not resemble a belt and do not exist yet.
What matters when choosing
Ease of use, durability, material, craftsmanship, original design, personalization and price.
Who would use it, and where
At the dojo, home, work, school or on the road—for yourself, as a gift or something to enjoy with family.
WHERE AN IDEA CAN BEGIN
Opening the idea beyond the dojo.

Learning how materials are braided
We are studying the structure, touch and color of kumihimo to explore what it could contribute to new Budo goods.

Making the smallest detail matter
Close observation of fine metalwork is informing how the kuro-obi brand might express detail and permanence.
Instagram ➔
Layering material and design
Sanada-himo, lacquer work and other disciplines are expanding the material and visual language under study.
Instagram ➔HOW WE WILL WORK WITH YOUR VOICE
From watching to co-creating the kuro-obi brand.
Everyone is welcome
All styles, organizations and grades are welcome, along with instructors, dojo operators, families and karate fans.
We are asking before deciding
The survey does not promise commercialization, selection or compensation. Responses will guide research, prototypes and product decisions.
Consent stays separate
Use of your response, prototype follow-up and optional product-development emails are handled as separate choices.
